Need for Alternate Models

Alternate models - the need of the hour

its high time we looked at newer and more inclusive development models. These are changing times, and all emerging aspects need to be looked into. In any case SC has affirmed that land acquisition for a private entity cannot be passed off as an act of public good. The entire Singur land acquisition was on a flawed basis. There was definitely a genuine anger of aggrieved parties, apparently he fence sitters, who almost always end up losing livelihoods and yet never get to participate in any serious discourse. The models of land acquisition and industrialization are being rendered redundant and its happening fast. Our legislation still reflect a colonial hangover, and these need to change fast, else we shall be heading to a civil war like situation.
